With two generations of his family before him operating engineering companies in Mozambique and South Africa, Miguel De Oliveira and his father opened Mendol in St. Martin in 1992.

Together with his wife Susan and brother-in-law, Andrew Cooper, he then opened Mendol USA in 2002. Both locations offer a wide range of marine engineering services including - but not limited to - engine diagnostics; engine room design, build, repair and refit; generator rebuilds and repairs; hydraulic system design, repair and refit; stabilizing systems; bow thrusters, service and repair of davits, passarelles, thrusters, windlass and steering systems; pipe work in all materials for hydraulics, fuel and water; Power generation and integration.

Miguel and Andrew are ´hands on´ operators spending far more time ´on the job´ than in the office, leaving the administration and day-to-day running of the company in the very capable hands of Susan.

Their clients are mainly repeats, and the business has grown rapidly based on excellent word of mouth recommendations. Wherever one of ´their yachts´ may be, they will travel to help solve any engineering problems regularly visiting vessels throughout the USA as well as the Caribbean and Mediterranean.
