Mendol - Lourenco Marques - Mozambique
Establish in 1945 by Joaquim Mendes de Oliveira, who graduated from University in Lisbon-Portugal with a Doctorate in Engineering.

Mendol’s work force numbering over 320 employees who were employed to manufacture agricultural & industrial equipment, which was distributed throughout South Africa. Mendol held the contract from Boeing to manufacture airport ground equipment. They were also under contract to the Mozambique Army to supply railway army carriages.

Mendol branched out to include a service department for refrigeration & air conditioning as well as a design and manufacturing department. These departments were contracted by the government to build cold storage for airport freight and the seaport freight as well as numerous private enterprises. They were also contracted to maintain all the facilities provided to the government.

Joaquim Mendes de Oliveira was proud to have his youngest son Nuno Oliveira run the manufacturing & service departments of the refrigeration & air condition shops.

Unfortunately during the revolution in 1975 "Mendol" was seized and the Mendol family was invited to leave the country and all their assets were seized. They choose to flee to South Africa as refugees.

Mendol - Durban - South Africa
Established 1978 by Nuno Mendes de Oliveira, three short years later after arriving in South Africa as a refugee in 1975 with his wife and three children. Nuno worked hard to begin establishing a new home. Once again Mendol was opened this time as a refrigduration and air conditioning company, which offered assistance to refrigerated container ships. Soon the business grew large enough for a new building to be constructed and 23 people to be employed. They continued to work but now also included oil refineries (Shell, BP & Mobile), shipping companies (Unicorn Lines, Mata Lines, Cunnard Lines, Safmarine and Indo - Atlantic) and later commercial high-rise buildings.

During this time the third generation of Mendol’s was inducted into the business. Miguel Oliveira, Nuno's son was trained and apprenticed with Mendol while obtaining his Bachelors of Engineering & Design.

Mendol - Marigot - St. Martin
Established in 1992 by Nuno, Maria & Miguel Oliveira. Once again Mendol re-invented itself this time as a complete engine rebuild and machine shop where the following work was preformed and produced:

Rebuilds and repairs of all makes and models of diesel engines and generators. Hydraulics: repaired, designed and installed Pumps - Fresh & raw water repaired, and remanufactured Air conditioning & refrigeration repairs,installations and design. Heavy duty construction equipment - repairs Custom machinery techniques. Fabrication and design of parts in all metals and plastics. Remanufacturing of blocks, heads, brades, discs, brake drums and other parts. Welding of all metals & custom designs. Fabrication of marine & household accessories in stainless steel, alluminum and steel

Mendol is also under current contract by the Power station on St. Maarten and surrounding islands to do their machine work, both in house machining and on site machining using portable machining equipment.

Mendol - Fort Lauderdale - USA
Established in 2002 by Miguel Oliveira. Mendol USA Inc was originally established to export and provide support for Mendol, St. Martin for all their warranty work and parts supplies. We are proud to announce that Andrew Cooper another family member is joining forces with Miguel and bringing his expertise to Mendol USA Inc. Our goal is to provide the client with a one stop experience for all there engineering needs with no delays, call backs or problems of any kind.
